Good Job, Adie!

Since we had the new baby, my 3-year old son, Seandy had to sleep on the other room. He was accompanied by my mother. But when his Tita Myan arrived (my sister in law) from Aklan to visit us, she was the one to accompany my son.

Sometimes when I am not doing anything and am not busy with my baby girl, I send Seandy to bed. I sent him to bed one night and when it’s time for us to say our bedtime prayer, he stopped me. He said, “No, mommy.” He then continued praying the one taught by his Tita Myan and then proceeded with our normal bedtime prayer. It was an old Catholic prayer and it goes like this:

Angel of God,
my guardian dear,
to whom God's love commits me here,
ever this day,
be at my side
to light and guard,
to rule and guide.

I was amazed. He had memorized the whole prayer!

I have always known that my kid has a good memory. Before he turned 2 years old he had already memorized 32 pieces of flash cards with different animals. I just can’t wait for him to go to school. We already enrolled him to a pre-school. Hope he does well with his studies as well.

I attended the Sunday service yesterday. Coach Jane explained about the pains that we experience in life. She said that these miseries, these pains are necessary to make us stronger. She also showed us videos about Nick Vujicic, the man born without arms and legs but was able to live life to its fullest. I was all teary eyed when the video was finished. He is amazing!

Greener Pasture

My sister and I were talking the other day. We were complaining about how hard it is now to live here in the city. We both agreed that it is so much easier to live in the province. There life is fun. Easy. No pressure. Fresh air and food.

She just went there for a 3-week vacation last April. She remembered vividly how people here in the city queued to buy the NFA rice while, surprisingly, people there in the province did not care for the NFA rice at all and preferred to buy the commercial rice.

Life in the province is great. You will have more time for yourself and your family. Unlike here in metropolis where the time you would have spent with your family will just be consumed by the heavy traffic! It’s really nice to live in a peaceful place. Eventually, when the time is right, my family will go back to my husband’s province in Aklan.

My son, Seandy

What I love most about my son, Seandy is his sweetness and his loving heart. He is fond of saying I love you to all of us.

I took a day off work yesterday so I was just home taking care of my kids. We were inside the room - me taking care of my 2 month old baby and Seandy playing with his lego. Out of nowhere Seandy asked me, "Mommy, do you love me?" I said, "Of course, Adie, I do love you." Then he came to me and kissed me. He smiled and then asked "Can I watch DVD Cartoons?" and then walked out.

It made me smile. I am so thankful because I know my son is being loved by all the people around him. I believe that is the reason why he shows compassion and love to other people as well. You just can’t give what you do not have!

I am so proud of my son. When I first found out I was pregnant with my second child, I was kind of nervous about Seandy. I thought it would be hard for him. I remembered some kids who bullied their younger siblings, thinking they are no longer loved. I thought of sibling rivalry.

But good thing when we told Seandy about it, he was so excited. He even baby talks with his sister inside my womb. Now whenever he hears our baby Andie cry he would go inside the room and say: “Do not cry, baby Andie. I am here.” And he’s fond of kissing her.

I remember some years ago, before I even had kids, I told my friends that I will have kids that the world will love. Thank God for giving me these two lovable kids.
You Are Somewhat Like Your Mom
Believe it or not, you and your mom are pretty darn similar.
It may not seem like it at times, but you and your mom have a lot of common ground.
Over time, you'll probably get closer ... especially if you emphasize the things you like about each other.
